Hiya, just wanted to make sure that the e-mails I sent recently regarding the 360 got through. I just wanted you to be aware that it went out today and that
it's going to be signature-required for extra security.

I hope you like it. One thing I forgot to mention that may or may not be obvious. To activate the wireless controller, hold the large center button down for a
few seconds until it starts flashing. If that doesn't work, make sure that I didn't do something stupid like put the batteries in backwards.

Y'know, whenever I get a new system, I make it a point to beat a game on it. Maybe when I get the 360 I'll do Lost Planet. I'd like to play System
Shock 2 before Bioshock, but I want the bitterness of getting that asshole to run on XP out of my mouth first.
But the reason I bring this up is it just donned on me that I haven't beaten a game for my Sega CD yet. Okay, I beat the Earthworm Jim Special Edition, but I don't think that counts because I've already beaten the regular version of that game thirty times, and I'm pretty sure I've beaten this version on the computer, but I may have just typed in "getthecheesetosickbay" and played the last level. |

Do feel free to post once you've given it a try. Even though I used it the same day I shipped it, I'm slightly anxious to make sure everything is
working okay.

I sent you an email informing you I got it and F. Rontdoor signed for it or something.
I haven't tried an actual game yet, I just fooled around in the download arcade and played that stupid fish game for a while. I'm having a caffine withdrawal headache right now, and there's no soda in the house so I don't feel like really playing anything right now.

Well, at least the arcade games worked alright like I thought. Did you try making a profile so you get credit for the achievement points? Never know, you might
get addicted to them. The fish game kind of hypnotized me for a while. I was going through a spell where I'd buy whatever little game came out that week.
You know, if you had decided to just leave the house and not worry about the package, then the dude would have refused to deliver without a signature. They like mentally torturing people.

Went to a nearby pizzaria and got a Dr. Pepper, which is dealing with my headache nicely. And of course some pizza, and I'll look into playing something
on a disc when I'm done eating.
Yeah, I created a profile. All you have to do is put in your name, right? ... and I just realized I didn't turn the controller off when I was done. |
|||

Yeah, that should do it. What I do when I'm done playing is hold the controller center button down, and select turn off system from the menu that'll
pop up. That should shut the system and the controller off together.

How do I get online? I may want to download that Bionic Commando remake whenever it comes out on Live.

Well, I finally started Lost Planet.
I read about putting a thick book under a 360 to get all the air vents open. Let's see how hot it is when I'm done. |

If you've got wireless, you need to buy some kind of adapter to go online. Otherwise, you can just plug the ethernet cable into the back like a PC. It
might have come with a cable, but if it did, I'm not sure what ever happened to it. Then there should be a button in the main menu to sign in to Xbox Live.
You need to pay for a gold membership to actually play against other people but you don't need it to download stuff.
I never had any overheating issues with it. At least, it never got hot enough that it shut off or froze or anything. It's always as loud as a freight train, so don't worry about that. |

If you ever go online, let us know your Gamertag so we can see the Achievements you've got.
If it's one thing I'll miss about that system, it'll be those addictive things. |

I had it in my signature for a long while before I wanted a change, and for a time I was working on a section of the site which would feature the achievements
I unlocked but didn't get around to completing that.
I probably would have mentioned the achievements more, but as one of the only people on the forum with a 360, there didn't seem like there would be any real interest. When I did talk about them, I would usually only get a comment out of Tweeter who would make fun of the whole thing, anyway. I have to say that I did get a little frustrated with them near the end because a lot of the games I was playing made you either play online for an extended time to earn the points or else do ridiculously challenging or time consuming tasks. I enjoyed them as a fun extra, not something to have to devote my life to. Sony is coming out with a somewhat similar Trophy system for the PS3. The cool thing about the 360 setup is that 1,000 achievement points were mandatory for all games from day one, where with Sony, the games already released don't have them, and it might not be mandatory for future titles. |

I could buy that stupid King Kong game and get 1,000 points right away.
I don't think I'll take the 360 online until either Mega Man 9 or that Bionic Commando remake are released. |

I could buy that stupid King Kong game and get 1,000 points right away.That's what I thought when I rented it, but it sucks too much to go through even that minimal effort. |

By the way, I noticed the 360 got a $50 price cut, bringing it to $300 for one with a 20GB HD. I'm thinking if this one goes RROD that I'll just buy a
new system. Maybe the RROD will be worked out by then, the hard drive and all the stuff Seabu had on it was probably worth the $200 (or $170 if I deduct
shipping) by itself, and it wouldn't be worth it to have anyone pay $30/$60 to ship it around.
I know I mentioned this at FO's but not here (although I know nobody is reading this that doesn't read FO's), but I ditched Lost Planet. The parts where you're on foot? They were okay, maybe even good. But any time those mechs got involved, be it fighting them or piloting them, the game would take a trip to Shittytown. |

It'll probably be fine, though. As much negative publicity as there is, the percentage of people having problems has to be fairly small. And of course some
of them are putting the console on the carpet or not giving it proper ventilation, or are using it a lot more than you and I would (like 8 hour online
multiplayer sessions or something).
If I ever got another 360, I might like to get one of the black ones. And I'd want to have wireless internet by then so I could do stuff like rent movies on it without all the hassle. I probably wouldn't do that until there was at least one more major price drop after this one, and until I had full time status at a good job. |

Another thing is they might be putting it vertical, which blocks half the thing's airway.
|
|||
CLOUDBOND007 |
|||
|
Yeah, I've never put any console vertical, not even as a test. I'm always afraid that it's going to fall (by itself or because of a cat) or that it
will cause disc scratches, or like you said, ventilation problems. Plus I simply don't think it's an attractive way to display your electronics.
